EcoMapping®
EcoMapping is a programme that allows small and medium enterprises a valuable, undaunting way to start managing and marketing their environmental initiatives.
EcoMapping was developed in Europe by Heinz-Werner Engel to provide a simple, visual way of starting the process towards more standardised environmental management such as ISO 14001 and EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Since then thousands of organisations all over the world have used EcoMapping as their start point in environmental management.
Aura Sustainability have registered consultants available in New Zealand to provide mentoring through the EcoMapping process, having undertaken training with Eco-Counselling Asia Pacific (ECAP). The EcoMapping process normally takes 2-3 days to complete over a 3 week period, at which point an organisation will have designed and produced its environmental action plan. Completion of EcoMapping consists of roughly 40% of the requirements of ISO 14001.
Once complete, the environmental action plan is registered with ECAP who provide recognition of the achievement by issuing a certificate and providing membership to the ECAP register. This achievement can then be marketedby the organisation externally.
Subsequently EcoMapping can be applied to achieve on-going recognition of environmental improvements, and progression towards ISO and EMAS using the ISO Easy and EMAS Easy programmes.
